Richard Mills was born in Marion county, but lived in Cardington prior to the war and up until his death in 1893.  Listed as working at a grist mill in 1870, he eventually opened up a mill and feed store in Cardington.  This set just west of the railroad tracks and on the south side of main street.  He is believed to be the great-grandfather of former teacher, coach and resident, Mills Poorman.  Mills’ wife’s name was Lottie.
