The Mississippi Marine Brigade was a special unit created to work the Mississippi River, most likely near Vicksburg.

 

Other interesting information discovered:

 

Charles Wesley Ayers was born in Morrow County.  His family moved to Michigan by 1850, but was back in Morrow County by 1860.  Eventually he settled in Michigan, where he died in 1927.  His wife’s name was May McNeil.
