Other interesting information discovered:

Dexter Reed was born in 1843 and lived in Knox County, Ohio as a young boy.  Why he died in Iowa is a mystery.  His parents may have moved there by that time.  He is not listed as being wounded in any battle, nor sick.  Perhaps his regiment received a winter furlough, or he was sick and was sent home.
