Yelverton Barry was wounded at the Battle of Chancellorsville, Virginia in May, 1863.  On November 4, 1863 he was discharged by a surgeon’s certificate of disability.

Other interesting information discovered:

Yelverton Barry was one of the few soldiers with ties to Cardington Township that fought with the Army of the Potomac in the eastern theatre of war.

Regiment lost during service 5 Officers and 96 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 1 Officer and 143 Enlisted men by disease. Total 245.
