The 85th OVI was organized between May and June 1862 to serve three months at Camp Chase, Columbus, Ohio to guard a large number of Rebel prisoners. Soldiers mustered out between September 23 and September27, 1862 at expiration of service.
Other interesting information discovered:
Daniel B Coykendall was born in Ohio on 4/30/1842. On 11/26/1862 he married Elizabeth Miller in Morrow County, ten children were born of the union. Daniel lived and farmed in the Morrow and Marion County area all of his life. He collected an invalid’s pension on 3/22/1888. The 1920 census listed Daniel living on Gilead Street in Cardington, Ohio.
