This regiment was organized at Camp Chase, Columbus. It went to Baltimore for garrison duty at Forts McHenry, Marshall and Hill. It returned to Columbus on August 21, 1864 and was mustered out.
Other interesting information discovered:
While not germane to his war record, Franklin Barnes first wife probably died around 1870. The couple had two children, a boy that was four and a girl that was two. Barnes remarried in 1872. In 1874, he must have become very ill. He wrote out and signed a will on May 13, 1874 and died three months later. By the time the children were eight and six, they had lost both their mother and father.
