Columbus Bendle was taken prisoner at the Battle of Morristown, Tennessee on November 13, 1864. He was confined in the Danville, Virginia prison for four months, and was exchanged on February 25, 1865.
Other interesting information discovered:
While Columbus Bendle represented his age to be 18 when he enlisted, he was actually just 15 years old. He was a younger brother to Lewis Bendle, who also served in the war. Bendle was born in Knox County, but lived in and around Cardington, Morrow County for the rest of his life.
