Adin Burt first enlisted for three months, at Defiance, Ohio (Co. D, 14th.OVI).  Upon completion of term he enlisted for three years at Cardington in Company I, 3rd. OVI.  He finished out his service in the 33rd. OVI.  He was finally discharged on Sept. 16, 1864 at Atlanta, Ga.  He was taken prison near Rome, Ga. on May 3, 1863, and was briefly imprisoned at Rome, Ga., Atlanta, Ga., Knoxville, Tenn., Belle Isle, Va., and Richmond, La.  He was paroled by late May, 1863.

Other interesting information discovered:

By 1908 Burt was living in a National Home for Disabled Veterans at Milwaukee.  He died at Waterloo, Iowa.
