The 14th. OVI was organized in the Toledo, Ohio area in April, 1861. Initially recruits enlisted for a three month period of time. Eventually the regiment became a three year regiment. The regiment was not involved in any battles during Hodges term of service.
Other interesting information discovered:
By 1900 Hodges was living in Sandusky, Ohio with his daughter Mable. He died at Sandusky, but his body was brought back to Cardington for burial
