Other interesting information discovered:

Samuel Jones lived in Cardington for most of his life.  He married Sarah Robertson in October 1864.  Evidently he was home on leave, as he remained in the army almost one more year.  In 1900 the family is shown to be residing on Center Street, Cardington.
