Pollock initially enlisted for 90 days. He was discharged on June 4, 1861 at Camp Dennison near Cincinnati, and then reenlisted for 3 years. He was wounded three times, the last time at Cold Harbor, Virginia in 1864. He was confined to the hospital at Columbus, Ohio in June 1864. He was finally discharged on July 21, 1864.

Pollock was born in Knox County and entered the service at Mt. Vernon. In 1870 he and his wife, Kitty, were living in Cardington, where he was a buggy salesman. He filed for an invalid’s pension on October 10, 1864, a result of wounds received. His wife filed for a pension after his death in 1917
