Simon Roach was born in Cardington, Ohio in February 1845. He married Phoebe Owen in Marion, Ohio on June 2, 1867, together they had five children.  At some point Simon and his family moved to Iowa where he was listed as a farmer.  In the 1880 Census he is listed as a wagon maker in Lock Springs, Missouri.  The 1900 Census finds Simon farming in Newton, Missouri.   He was granted an invalid pension on September 17, 1889.  Phoebe Roach received a widow’s pension on September 19,1907.
