Information found in the Grand Army of the Republic records book indicate Robert Underwood was not wounded or taken prisoner. He was hospitalized between April and June 1863 for an unknown reason. Discharged 11/24/1865

Robert Underwood was born in Germantown, Montgomery County, Ohio on 12/9/1828. On 5/20/18858. He married Ursula M Smith. Although they separated at some point in their marriage, they remarried on 9/22/1864, six children were born of this union. Robert lived on Main Street in Cardington, During his lifetime Robert was employed as a Tinner and Grocer. In the 1910 Census he was listed as living on Main Street in Cardington at age 81, a retired merchant.
