Other interesting information discovered:  Newton Oliver was the oldest of three brothers from Cardington that fought in the war.  His youngest brother Henry died of wounds suffered at the Battle of Winchester, Va.  Another brother, Smith Oliver survived the war.  He left behind his wife, Sarah (Dunkleburger) and a three year-old daughter.  Sarah was able to collect a widow’s pension starting in 1864.  She never remarried, and died at Van Wert, Ohio in 1927.
